I’m Quitting Heroing: Next Gig Is at the Demon Queen’s Castle Season 2 will continue the story of the world’s strongest hero Leo Demonhart and the demon queen Echidna after his secret is revealed. But when is I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2 coming out?
While the second season is still on the horizon, anime fans don’t have to wait for new episodes. The Blu-Ray/DVD box set will include a two-part I’m Quitting Heroing “Episode 13 & 14” (see the I’m Quitting Heroing OVA Episode section below for more details).
The main team and studio making Yuusha, Yamemasu Season 2 has not been announced yet.
The first season of the anime TV series I’m Quitting Heroing was animated by studio EMT Squared, which is probably best for the anime series Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, the anime Drug Store in Another World, the Anime “Assassin’s Pride” and “The Master” is known from Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar anime.
In 2022, the studio also released the soccer anime Shoot! goal for the future. As for the future, it has already been confirmed that EMT Squared is working on anime Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Season 2.
For the first season of I’m Quitting Heroing, the anime project was led by principal director Hiasahi Ishii (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Rainy Coca) and executive director Yuu Nobuta (The Faraway Paladin Season 2, World’s End Harem). Author Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombieland Saga) wrote the screenplays.
Artist Yuki Nakano (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Haikyuu!!) was the character designer. Composer Kouhei Munemoto wrote the music.
The theme song music for I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2 OP (Opening) and ED (Ending) has not yet been announced.
In the first season, the I’m Quitting Heroing OP “Broken Identity” was performed by Minori Suzuki (the voice of Dianette), while the ED “Growing” was performed by Nao Touyama.
Since Sentai Filmworks acquired the exclusive streaming rights to the anime, the first season was streamed with English subtitles only on HIDIVE (not on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, VRV, or Amazon Prime Video). A release date for the English dub “I’m Quitting Heroing” has not yet been announced.
Here’s the Japanese cast of I’m Quitting Heroing:
The season one finale, I’m Quitting Heroing Episode 12, was released on June 21, 2022.
This article contains everything that is known about I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2 (Yuusha, Yamemasu Season 2) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated with news, rumors, and analysis over time. In the meantime, let’s get into what’s known for sure.
Yuusha, Yamemasu Season 2 Release Date Predictions: Extension Uncertain?
Until the last update, XXX or other companies related to the production of the anime have not officially confirmed the release date of I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2. The production of an “I’m Quitting Heroing” sequel has also not been announced.
Once the news is officially confirmed, this article will be updated with the relevant information.
In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate as to when or if the Yuusha, Yamemasu Season 2 release date will be in the future.
The reviews for I’m Quitting Heroing were good, but not great. Perhaps some of the negative reviews are down to the glut of Isekai and fantasy anime that only offer a twist on a trope. But the story isn’t simply the twist of the legendary hero joining the side of the Demon Lord after being ostracized by mankind…nor can it be fully explained by the grand plot twist that Leo’s backstory offers.
Instead, it is a real-life fantasy story that offers insights into good corporate governance and the dynamics of human behavior in a work environment. The Demon Army lies in shambles as the leadership doesn’t understand good management and their “CEO”, the Demon Queen, has lofty goals but has no idea how to successfully execute a business plan, let alone rebuild a nation by conquering the heavily polluted environment heals.
So ultimately, once you get past the introductory episode that sets the terms, it’s a very relatable story. The comedy is on point and the characterization is well done as this is one of the few anime that has the ability to fully adapt a light novel at will (see the Light Novel Comparison section for more details). But perhaps the producer instructed the studio to adapt only part of the story to entice new fans to buy the books.
From a streaming revenue perspective, being exclusive to HIDIVE either paid off or it didn’t, as HIDVID has far fewer subscribers compared to Crunchyroll’s subscriber base.
Aside from Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Studio EMT Squared is not known for successful anime series that spawn a sequel.
Based on all these factors, it’s difficult to say whether the anime production committee will allow I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2 to be extended.
I’m Quitting Heroing “Episode 13 and 14” OVA episodes continue the story in BD/DVD box set
As previously mentioned, the I’m Quitting Heroing Blu-ray/DVD boxsets will contain two more unaired episodes. The 12 episodes of the first season will be released as two BD/DVD box sets, due out on June 24, 2022 and August 24, 2022.
I Quit the Heroism “Episode 13 and 14” is a two-part story titled “Don’t Lose Your Eyes on Why We Undertook This Exploration (Kenshuu Ryokou wa Mokuteki o Ushinau na)”. Here is the synopsis of the story:
Leo goes on a study tour with Echidna and the Elite Four. They arrive at an abandoned hot spring inn with a creepy landlady. That night, Echidna suddenly disappears from the group who were just beginning to deepen their friendship…
Yes, that means this anime will get its required hot spring episode! It is currently unknown if these two unaired episodes will eventually be released internationally on streaming platforms like HIDIVE.
I’m Quitting Heroing Manga, light novel series compared to anime
The story of the anime TV series is based on the light novel series Yuusha, Yamemasu: Tsugi no Shokuba wa Maoujou by writer Quantum and illustrator Hana Amano.
Like many fantasy light novels, the story was first self-published on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu website in 2017. Kadokawa Books published the light novel adaptation in three light novel volumes in 2017 and 2018. Publisher Fujimi Fantasia Bunko released a reprint in the first half of 2022.
Manga adaptation I’m Quitting Heroing has been published in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace Up magazine since May 2018. As of April 2022 there are 6 manga volumes and counting!
Kadokawa has released an official English translation of both the manga and light novel series in digital format. When the anime premiered in Spring 2022, only the first two light novel books were available online as digital books on the BookWalker website. Instead of selling the I’m Quitting Heroing manga volumes, the BookWalker site sells the manga chapters separately.
I’m Quitting Heroing Season 1 joined the esteemed company of ’86 anime and Sabikui Bisco anime by adapting just a single light novel with a full anime season. The other two anime TV series expanded the source material in a way that enhanced the story rather than just being filler to fill the season up to 12 episodes.
Likewise, the anime I’m Quitting Heroing added a handful of anime original scenes that provided additional explanations and explanations. For example, the backstory of the half-demonic, half-human assassin Mernes originally only covered three paragraphs in the light novel.
Much of the success of the I’m Quitting Heroing anime is due to the simple fact that it didn’t have to wrap three to five books together in a mad rush to get to a decent stopping point in a multi-volume arc.
Instead, 1 chapter per episode was adjusted in the first half of the first season. The first book has 7 chapters, a final chapter and an epilogue. However, since the final chapter is particularly long compared to the regular chapters, it has been made into multiple episodes.
In Episode 6 of I’m Quitting Heroing, Leo’s backstory as a 3,000 year old humanoid bioweapon is finally revealed (bonus points for those who noticed the foreshadowing in Episode 5 when Leo first discussed speaking “like” a human) . It’s the most important turning point in the story, as it’s also when the entire series starts to become more interesting, not generic.
The ending of Volume 1 is a great stop, as the demon queen Echidna finally realizes that Lord Onyx’s true identity was her mortal enemy, the hero Leo Demonhart. It is not until the end of the first book that the audience really understands Leo’s intentions. It’s also the moment Leo finally finds full acceptance from these irreplaceable companions he’s met as friends.
The good news is that there is ample source material for the production of I’m Quitting Heroing Season 2. If season two spans two courses, it could end the rest of the story or leave the final volume for I’m Quitting Heroing Season 3.
Better yet, English-only light novel readers who want to read before the anime can jump straight to Light Novel Volume 2 on the BookWalker website. English manga readers can start with chapter 16.
