Brecken Merrill named Kevin Costner as a role model for the fourth season of “Yellowstone”. Speaking to NewsNation in November 2021, the young actor recalled a time on set when he called editing, unaware that’s not what an actor normally does. While the cast and crew laughed at the innocuous mistake, Costner wanted to know why Merrill Cut was calling and, like he would with any other actor, asked if he had a problem with the scene.
“He treats me like a colleague, more than just a little kid. I don’t see him as grandpa. I see him more as a role model,” Merrill told NewsNation.
Merrill has spoken a great deal about mentoring Costner. In an interview with ET, he even revealed that the veteran actor asked if the performance was really what he wanted to follow. Costner then guided the young actor through his decision, and Merrill decided he ultimately wanted to pursue something he was so successful with at such a young age.
“This is my career. This is my passion… I want to be here. I just want to thank Kevin. I’m so blessed to work with such an amazing cast,” Merrill said.
