It seems things are progressing smoothly for the upcoming next episode of “Yellowjackets”. The show is official Twitter Account announced on August 30 that filming had begun on the first episode of the second season. “Going wild,” reads the tweet. “Our #Yellowjackets are back in production for Season 2.”
The show’s renewal after its first season was originally announced in December 2021 (via TV Line). So while fans could have peace of mind knowing the series would continue, it took a relatively long time for things to get going. In early 2022, Showtime’s President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, told Vulture that the network expected Season 2 to premiere before the end of the year. “We would like to stay in an annual cycle,” he said in the interview. “I think our audience deserves that, and I also think when you have a show that has such momentum, you don’t want to let it disintegrate.”
While Season 2 of Yellowjackets could still technically premiere in 2022, the late start of production suggests the release window could drop to 2023. Regardless, it’s nice for fans to know that the Yellowjackets family is finally back in action. It shouldn’t be too long before viewers see what their favorite characters, as well as a certain massive movie star, can expect in Season 2 of Yellowjackets. “Everything will just be totally calm and not traumatizing at all!” the show’s account tweeted.
