Why You Can’t Stream Spongebob Squarepants’ ‘Mid-Life Crustacean’ Episode On Paramount+

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 6 Second

The reason the SpongeBob SquarePants episode Mid-Life Crustacean was pulled has to do with a scene at the end of the episode. When Mr. Krabs needs a night on the town after he’s about his own age, Patrick and Spongebob go out to do their favorite evening activities, like watching washing machines and going to the dentist. The episode then culminates with the trio going on a panty heist. In true Spongebob fashion, the panties the group looted at the end belonged to Mr. Krab’s mother, so he gets punished and sent to his room, which actually makes him feel young again.

Fans of the series commented on the episode’s removal in a Reddit thread, and opinions seem to be divided. “I understand why they pulled the episode,” said u/flclhack, “but they’re trying to scrub it out of existence and I’m never for it.” Another Redditor, u/damados, said, “They ban these Episode, but not the one where Squidward’s toenail is ripped off.”

Overall, it seems like viewers would have seen the reasoning behind the episode’s questioning, but they would also have been open to the network approaching it in a different way. Time will tell if the Spongebob episode that went too far will ever be added back to the service.
