Terrifier 2 had the challenge of standing out when it was released in the middle of scary season. Launching in theaters on October 6, 2022, it battled horror legends like The Shape in the highly anticipated Halloween Ends and the overly hyped Smile. While the return of Art the Clown hasn’t managed to top these much bigger films, it does stand out.

With a budget of $250,000 (via CinemaBlend), “Terrifier 2” raked in a massive worldwide box office of over $10 million (via Box Office Mojo). Considering the tiny production and how little promotion the film received, it was an impressive turnaround. Even among horror powerhouses, Terrifier 2 has carved a niche for itself.

Additionally, most of the funding came from an Indiegogo campaign launched by Damien Leone. Leone originally set a goal of $50,000 and earned more than four times that. This campaign proved that sometimes critics are wrong. While the original film was criticized for being too simplistic, fans wanted more. Eager to see Art the Clown return for a bigger and more violent second installment, Terrifier 2 is an example of the power of fans.

Terrifier 2 is not a movie for the faint of heart. The original’s gore was deemed overdone, and its sequel grew larger. Reports of viewers throwing up boosted the film’s popularity (via CinemaBlend), but that gross gore factor has always been one of the things fans loved about the franchise.
