According to a recent Reddit thread, fans of “NCIS” are slowly beginning to welcome Alden Parker into the senior role typically held by Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the show. U/FS1120 kicked off the conversation by stating that they refused to continue watching NCIS after Gibbs left, although they would eventually relent and like Parker. “When Gibbs left I felt like it was for me and didn’t bother watching the next few episodes. I’ve been watching now [episode] 9, and I grew very fond of Parker. I think that’s because they didn’t try to make him a Gibbs clone or some kind of hard case because they felt the need to impose their personality on the team. Seems likeable so far,” they said.
Other fans would share this opinion, including u/Jessie_Lynn_85. They said: “I was great against Parker at first too. But after finishing this season, I admire his character… He’s his own person and brings his own stuff to the team.”
Gary Cole has spoken out about his intention of not trying to be the iconic character Mark Harmon who was solidified in the show’s story. He told TV Line: “I’m not trying to be [Gibbs]. The authors made that distinction.”
