In a subreddit dedicated to the series, u/Snakes-4-everywhere3 said, “Eve is the worst person on this show! [She] came for no reason, ruined Lucifer and was just annoying.” Before you continue – a short pause. Reddit has long been known as a haven for cruel and ignorant individuals who demean women for their very existence, so much so that Reddit acknowledges it in its frequent security posts. These willfully destructive voices often disguise their hatred as critical opinions. Based on the comments under the above post, such people may be present. The discussion is filtered accordingly.
In a nutshell, Eve was introduced in the fourth season of “Lucifer” and primarily served as Lucifer’s love interest. They eventually separated and she became the love interest for Mazikeen of the Lilim (Lesley-Ann Brandt), whom she eventually married. Yes, she is that Eve, as in the Bible, and almost everyone seems to refer to her as a nuisance.
Well, that’s hardly a helpful criticism, so let’s dig deeper. It seems the writers used Eve as a crutch for made-up tensions. Eve’s decisions felt like they were made with the express intention of causing trouble, rather than for character reasons. One commentator, u/Throwawaycuzawkward, suggested that it’s possible Eve was solely blasting relationships and injecting drama because the authors felt that was her only intention in the Bible.
This isn’t too far removed from Lavi’s version of Eve. She described her role to The Mary Sue as a woman who takes an active role in escaping boredom, regardless of the consequences.
