In an interview with The Malestrom, Parker Schnabel was asked what the highlight of his career was so far, and Schnabel said it was his first visit to Dawson. “It’s just a wonderful mining community made up of some of the best people in the world,” Schnabel said, “and I’m really glad to have become a part of it — or feel like I will.” He added adds that even after years of working in the Yukon, he still feels like an outsider in the area.

Schnabel looked for new gold deposits in other parts of the world. In an interview with Entrepreneur, he explained that the whole point of his industry is to pull something out of the ground that can’t be replaced, so it’s his job to put himself out of business unless he finds something new land for mining. However, its attempts to move into other claims outside of the Yukon have mostly met with impasses.

At the end of Season 4, Parker bought a claim in Australia, but nothing ever came of it. In a thread on the u/goldrush subreddit, u/Seanacey2k asked what happened to that claim and Schnabel replied that COVID was in the way and he’d given up on pretty much everything in Australia. Meanwhile, impossible as it may seem, the Yukon continues to produce enough gold to continue mining in the Dawson area each season.
