Wheel of Fortune began as an idea by Merv Griffin in 1975. Chuck Woolery was the presenter and Susan Stafford rotated the letters. However, in 1981, Woolery left a pay dispute. Soon after, Stafford left as well and made a major change in his life to work with cancer patients instead of staying in show business. Follow in their footsteps? The Wheel of Fortune co-hosts we know best: Pat Sajak and Vanna White.
Since our focus here is on height, it makes sense to mention hers. Sajak is 5 feet 10 inches tall. White reaches 5ft 6in – but that’s measuring without her heels. And if you pay attention, you’ll remember that White always wears heels on the show. She might switch them up, like she does with her outfits, and is careful to avoid repeating it (except for that one time), but she’s always on her toes. Her secrets to surviving a career in heels: a combination of slippers when off-screen and carefully chosen platforms when online. “Guess makes good ones,” she said today. “They’re heels, but they have a 2-inch platform at the front, so it’s almost like walking on 3-inch heels, not 5-inch heels. I probably have more Guess shoes than anyone else.”
When White has her heels on, she’s on par with Sajak – and that’s the whole point. But not for the reason you might think.
