Rachel Bloom plays Honora, Sophie’s stepmother, in The School for Good and Evil. Bloom’s big acting break came in 2015 when The CW taped her half-hour musical comedy-drama Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, in which the comedic actress donned multiple hats as she served as star, co-creator, writer, and executive producer. She received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy for her starring role as Rebecca Bunch. The series aired for four seasons, during which it received critical acclaim for its musical numbers and outstanding writing.
Before landing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, audiences may have first heard Bloom voice various characters on animated shows like Robot Chicken, BoJack Horseman, and Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas. She has also appeared on How I Met Your Mother, Portlandia, iZombie, Diary of a Future President, Into the Dark, and iCarly. Three years after the end of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, she has transitioned to another TV venture in the form of Hulu’s latest comedy series Reboot, in which she plays the regular role of Hannah Korman.
As for her film career, Bloom made her feature film debut in 2018 when she signed on to star and produce the comedy film Most Likely to Murder. After that, she only took on roles in animated films, including Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Batgirl, The Angry Birds Movie 2 as Silver, Trolls World Tour as Barb, Extinct as Op, and Chip n ‘Dale: Rescue Rangers.’
