Ruby, the villainous character created by Jayma Mays, is one of Malvina Monroe’s henchmen in Disenchanted alongside Rosaleen from Yvette Nicole Brown. May first gained recognition for her role as Emma Pillsbury, a counselor struggling with OCD, on Ryan Murphy’s coming-of-age musical-dramedy series Glee. She appeared on the show for six seasons and was a main cast member for the first three years.
Before landing Glee, Mays was cast in supporting roles on shows like Joey, Six Feet Under, How I Met Your Mother, House, Entourage, and Ghost Whisperer. She also had recurring appearances on the superhero drama Heroes and the comedy drama Ugly Betty, in which both of her characters were named Charlie. After Glee, she got bigger roles in a few sitcoms like The League as Trixie Von Stein and Trial and Error as Carol Anne Keane.
May’s early screen roles include minor appearances in films such as the psychological thriller Red Eye, the romantic comedy Blind Dating, the war drama Flags of Our Fathers, and the stoner comedy Smiley Face. In 2007, she starred in the spoof film Epic Movie, in which she met her future husband, actor Adam Campbell. She has continued to appear in comedies such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop, The Smurfs, American Made, and the sci-fi comedy Bill and Ted Face the Music, in which she starred opposite Princess Joanna Keanu Reeves.
