What Happened To Simon on Bridgerton, Where Simon In Bridgerton Season 2?

What Happened To Simon on Bridgerton?

Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, played by Regé-Jean Page, is significantly absent from Bridgerton’s second season. In the second season of Bridgerton, Rege-Jean Page played the Duke of Hastings, Simon Bassett, and fans are already losing him.

While Season 2 brought a number of new characters, most fans are mourning the departure of such a beloved character as the Duke. The Regency, on the other hand, returned with new controversies and dramatic plots involving many returning characters as well as the new “tonfolk.”

The Duke of Hastings will not be returning for a second season, it was confirmed in April of 2021. While he is not dead, his wife, Daphne Bridgerton, claims he is in their Clyvedon house. According to Netflix and Page, his character was only scheduled to appear in the first season.

Where’s Simon In Bridgerton Season 2?

The Duke and Duchess of Hastings lived at the Bassett estate in Clyvedon, as seen in Season 1 of “Bridgerton.” And that appears to be where Simon Basset was while Daphne and their toddler son toured London and Aubrey Hall in the countryside.

The writers didn’t linger long on the mystery of Simon’s location. When Daphne travels from Clyvedon to be there at her sister Eloise’s debut in front of the tonne and Queen Charlotte in Season 2, the answer to his absence is disclosed.

Daphne exclaims that Eloise best comes out because she left her “husband and child at home” to be in London, marching directly outside Eloise’s room where the siblings crowded to nervously debate whether Eloise would come out.

Despite the fact that Regé-Jean Page does not appear in Season 2, there is still hope for the future. The show’s creator, Chris Van Dusen, indicated that he hasn’t ruled out the prospect of Simon returning in future seasons. He remarked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, “Regé’s return is something I’ll never rule out. Season 2 does not include him. Who knows what the future has in store for us.”

Why Isn’t Simon Basset In ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2?

The focus of the second season of Bridgerton was always going to be on Viscount Anthony Bridgerton’s love story, rather than Daphne and the Duke, who had already got their happily ever after in season one. However, most fans expected performers Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page to reprise their supporting roles in the show’s second chapter, which starts this weekend. However, both Netflix and Shondaland already stated that Page would not be back for season two.

Page spoke exclusively with Variety about why Bridgerton’s “short-term commitment” appealed to him.

“It’s only a one-season story.” “Give us a year, and we’ll have a beginning, middle, and end,” Page remarked. “I thought to myself, ‘That’s fascinating,’ because it felt like a limited series at the time.” I get to come in and do my part, and then the Bridgerton family continues.”

Will Simon Basset Return To ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2?

Fans were left wondering if the intriguing Simon Basset will return after the success of Bridgerton season 1, which combines Regency-period romance with current sensibilities. Despite the fact that Simon is not featured in Bridgerton season 2, recent interviews and Julia Quinn’s book series, on which the television show is based, may hold the key to whether or not everyone’s favorite duke will return.

Regé-Jean Page’s role as Simon in Bridgerton season 3 is yet unknown. Page revealed in an April 2021 interview with Variety magazine that his role in Bridgerton was always planned to be “a one-season storyline” after an official Instagram statement that he will not be returning as Simon Basset. In a separate interview with Variety, Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes addressed Page’s departure, saying that he wouldn’t have much to do in subsequent seasons and would be consigned to the background.
