Two Senior FDA Vaccine Leaders In The US Announce Their Retirements As The Agency Faces Boosters Shots Decisions

The director of the FDA office of vaccine research and review of biology evaluation and research, Dr. Marion Gruber, and Deputy Director of the office, Dr. Phil Krause on Tuesday through an email sent to the internal agency announces their retirement. This news was then further shared by the FDA to news channels.

When Dr. Peter Marks, CBER director was going through the email, he said that Dr. Gruber will retire on the 31st of October. Krause will leave the agency in November. Dr. Marks has recognized Gruber for his administration efforts of authorizing the Covid 19 vaccine. However, he also thanked Krause as he had played a critical role in interacting with the public health colleague worldwide for vaccination-related issues.

Further Marks through a mail said that the search for the next director of Vaccine research and review office will begin soon. Until he will be acting as the director of the agency. 

The mail of Dr. Gruber and Krause had not started the reason behind their retirement from the agency. But the mail has questioned whether their leave will disturb the work of the agency or not. 

When asked the FDA spokesperson Stephanie Kokomo, he said that “We are very positive about our staff’s capability and efficiency for solving the critical public health issues including the evaluation of covid 19 vaccination.  

Jeff Zients, The White House covid 19 team coordinator, didn’t Jeff Zients didn’t answer whether the retirement of the two important leaders will affect the FDA’s work or not. Instead, he says that the White House is grateful for their tireless and best work.

The president, Joe Biden has not announced the nominee for the FDA’s job posts. Furthermore, commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock adds that the agency is facing a very critical time. Woodcock also added that she will ensure that FDA’s work process is being processed safely, effectively and will provide high-quality vaccines to Americans. 

Woodcock also said that she believes in Dr. Mark’s teams and is confident about it. Furthermore, the FDA agency will make more decisions on the covid 19 vaccinations shots and vaccines for children younger than 12. 

The US health officials have formulated the plan for providing booster doses to the mRNA vaccine recipients from 20th September. After receiving the Pfizer or modern vaccine, this booster will be provided. 

A source told CNN that problems were going on in the FDA agency for the vaccination. The problem is that CDC and the advisory committee have come to FDA during vaccination. Moreover, another problem is to set the booster goals. However, the retirement of Gruber and Krause is a big loss for the FDA. 

So, here it can be told that this covid – 19 virus is very unpredictable and we are planning more and more schemes and boosters to save the citizens of the US.
