With all those disgusting jars and their contents watching Winona Ryder go by, fans of the “Alien” saga are guaranteed to think back to their time in space when no one could hear them scream. In 1997, she starred opposite Sigourney Weaver in Alien Resurrection, in which the legendary hero was brought back as a clone and on the run from manipulated xenomorphs. Ryder played Call, an android who was forced to team up with Ripley to avoid the legendary space bugs, only to find another horror during the film.
In the scene in question, the Ripley clone stumbles across a room full of previous versions of themselves that have been unsuccessful. Undeveloped prototypes float in containers, as does a living one that she kills out of mercy. It’s a harrowing moment for Ryder’s Call, and one of the few highlights in what’s considered one of the worst films in the franchise. No matter where fans place him in the franchise, that moment is striking enough to reappear when a similar sequence plays out in Stranger Things. Now all we have to do is decide who we’d rather play against; a Demogorgon or a Xenomorph? Can’t we go with either of them?
