One of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Wong (Benedict Wong). With his debut in the original Doctor Strange, Wong has come a long way and is now the Sorcerer Supreme revealed in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Surely there’s enough history between these films, or one that could be told after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that could be passed on in a Disney+ series.
Benedict Wong recently announced that he would be up for a Wong-centric series if he appeared on the Fade to black podcast. “It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it? I would definitely be up for it,” the actor said when host Amon Warmann inquired about a possible show. The actor joked that the show could cover everything because we constantly see Wong opening and going through portals but have no idea where he’s going. He also applauded Marvel Studios and Disney by saying they do all the series so well.
He also had an idea for a co-star. “I really like the idea of the wizard and the apprentice with Ned [Jacob Batalon] as my apprentice,” joked Benedict Wong. Many suspected Ned would gain some skills in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he was actually much better with a sling ring than Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) on his first try. There might be something to this idea.
