Interestingly, adding Liam to Season 4 of The Witcher isn’t Sophie Holland’s first interaction with the Hemsworths. According to her IMDb page, she has been in the casting industry since 2012 and was a junior member of the casting department for Thor: The Dark World. Granted, she was hired to cast the kids for the film, so chances that she worked directly with Chris Hemsworth are slim. But from her humble beginnings, she has worked as a casting assistant on the popular show Outlander and acted as full casting director on other hits like Vampire Academy, Shadow and Bone, and of course both The Witcher and The Witcher: Blood Origin”.

Desperate “Witcher” fans should know that Holland is more than your dime Hollywood casting agent whose primary goal is “to find handsome actors who… [can] an American accent.” These are her words from a 2020 interview she did with Casting Networks. In this interview, she shares a heartwarming story about casting The Kill Team and using real Afghan immigrants from North London in the film. They kindly invited her and her husband to their home, read Pashto poetry and prepared a home-cooked meal of traditional Afghan cuisine. It was a deep and moving experience for her, and she felt, “It was the first time I realized that as casting directors, we can tell human stories that other people want to hear that help them grow.” relate to the things that are going on. I think that’s when I fell in love with casting.”
