According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Avatar: The Way of Water” will come close to matching “Titanic” as James Cameron’s longest film, reportedly at somewhere “about three hours and 10 minutes,” according to unnamed sources involved with the film.
That would make The Way of Water about half an hour longer than the original Avatar, and squarely in line with recent blockbusters to approach a three-hour runtime, including The Batman and its staggering two-hour runtime hours, 55 minutes.
The length of Avatar: The Way of Water hasn’t been officially confirmed by Disney, but the number reportedly surfaced when cinema websites listed the film’s PG-13 rating and inadvertently released the runtime as well.
Hopefully, the spectacle and drama that awaits viewers of The Way of Water will justify a running time of over three hours. Fans and the general public are sure to find out once the film hits theaters on December 16, 2022.
