The Two Breaking Bad Stars You Likely Missed In Castle

Dean Norris, who plays Walt’s DEA brother-in-law Hank Schrader, and Jonathan Banks, who plays Gus’ right-hand man Mike Ehrmantraut, are the Breaking Bad actors appearing in Castle. Created by Andrew W. Marlowe, Castle follows crime writer Richard Castle (Nathan Fillon) as he meets and falls in love with Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), and consequently uses her as inspiration for the protagonist of his next novel series.

In 2009, the same year that his Breaking Bad run began, Banks played a character named Bruce Kirby on Season 1 of Castle. Kirby is a corrupt ex-cop – not unlike Mike in Breaking Bad – who is indirectly involved in the murder of a prominent politician.

Meanwhile, in 2011, Norris had his Castle gig (which was in the middle of his Breaking Bad run) as Captain Peterson of the NYPD Special Forces. Peterson tries to get his hands on a bank robbery, only for the robber to insist on dealing exclusively with Beckett. Much like Banks’ situation, Norris’ character in Castle isn’t too far removed from the kind of character he’s known for in Breaking Bad – after all, they’re both cops.

If you want to see Norris or Banks play a character other than their iconic Breaking Bad roles onscreen, you can stream Castle in its entirety on Hulu.
