“Interceptor” was released on June 3rd for the whole world. As such, it only had a few days to make an impact before Netflix’s latest rankings were compiled, and as it turns out, that was more than enough time for it to make a splash landing. According to Netflix, the title was number one in dozens of countries and has been watched a total of 35.6 million hours since its release.
It’s a significant step up from the number two film – “A Perfect Pairing”. This title still got an impressive 14.4 million hours of watch time from May 30th to June 5th. But it is clear that last week belonged to “Interceptor”. Rounding out the rest of the top 10 movies list are primarily existing movies, including The Amazing Spider-Man, Jack Reacher, and Memoirs of a Geisha.
So what does this mean for the prospects for an “Interceptor 2”? Netflix would certainly do well to build on this hype, but it remains to be seen if the film can continue this momentum in the coming weeks. Maybe a teaser of a special cameo will get even more people to check it out.
