Drew Carey has successfully hosted The Price is Right for over a decade, making it the longest-running game show of all time. The secret of his success? Finding his own way of hosting the show. In an interview with People, Carey said that was Bob Barker’s advice to him when Barker handed over the hosting helm. “I knew I could never be Bob, and I wasn’t going to try to be Bob,” he said. “We went out for lunch and his advice was, ‘Don’t try to copy me. Just make it your own show.’”
And that’s exactly what Carey is aiming for, noting how much he loves watching people win on the game show. “That’s the best thing when people win,” he told People. “I look forward to coming to work.”
Recently inducted into NAB’s Broadcasting Hall of Fame, “The Price is Right” shows no signs of slowing down. Upon accepting the award, Carey said that “The Price is Right” “could run on American TV for 100 years just because it’s so strong” (via Deadline).
