Kevin Sussman appeared at a convention in 2021 and spoke to RosterCon about his role as Stuart on The Big Bang Theory. Given that Stuart had just started a relationship with Denise during the show’s final season, Sussman believed the writers were unaware that season 12 would be the last, so he expected and wanted the series to continue and explore Stuart will relationship continue on screen. “I don’t think the writers knew it was going to be the last season until the last season,” Sussman speculated. “My character had just gotten a girlfriend, so I was excited to see what would happen with this storyline.”
Despite this minor criticism, however, Sussman only has positive things to say about his experience on the show. In a 2018 interview with Glitched, Sussman was asked about his time on the show. Sussman expressed his love of playing a character that has developed over 11 years, stating, “That was fun. Playing a character that evolves over time and all these different circumstances and all these things I had to do.”
Sussman later praised the cast and crew for the family atmosphere in which they work. “It’s been an amazing and positive experience overall working with everyone on the show,” he hinted. “Everyone is super supportive. And super fun and friendly. And I really think that’s one of the main reasons the show took so long, because if they didn’t all get along, it would just be too difficult. “
It’s good to know that despite Stuart’s deep melancholy, it was in a warmer, more loving environment behind the scenes that he would likely thrive.
