In a recent interview with Geek Culture for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen was asked which actor she would like to see play the role of Master of Magnetism in the MCU, and she went with the original choice, having debuted in 2000’s X -Men” movie. “I’ll go with Sir Ian McKellen,” she said after giving it a moment’s thought.
However, Olsen was quick to admit that her reasoning may have had less to do with her or McKellen’s characters and more to do with her own admiration for McKellen as an actor. “I have a crush on him the most,” she said. “He’s acting in these videos called Playing Shakespeare, it’s a series of videos. He’s like the sexiest man in the world.”
Given the development of Wanda’s MCU backstory at this point – and with the decision to emphasize her magic abilities instead of mutant powers and set her firmly in the magic corner of the MCU – it’s probably too late to integrate Magneto into her backstory. Also, Wanda’s future is mysterious and complex: The last time we saw her she was buried in the rubble of Mount Wundagore to atone for her evil deeds. However, it’s unlikely that a character as powerful – and immensely popular – as Scarlet Witch could be taken down so easily when faced with so many potential future storylines. If she does come back, we can only hope they find a reason to hook her up with the X-Men in some way.
