In audio Looper received during a special House of the Dragon press conference, Matt Smith showed his generous side by giving actress Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen, a gifted prop from the set. “I got a knife, and I actually gave it to Emma, day one,” Smith said.
Typically, it’s not uncommon for actors to take home special props from the films and television projects they’ve worked on. But Smith gifting his prop to his co-star is a classy move. However, that doesn’t mean the actor didn’t have another big prize in mind from the set. “…Then I stole Dark Sister,” the actor continued. “Dark Sister is in my lounge, yes.” Game Of Thrones fans may already be familiar with the legendary Dark Sister name due to her significant lineage within the series. The sword is made of impressively strong and sharp Valriyan steel and originally belonged to Prince Daemon’s great aunt Visenya Targaryen. The sword was passed down through generations until it finally came into the hands of Daemon.
Smith is probably just joking about stealing the fabled sword, but given its importance and fantastic looks, no one would blame him for wanting to take it home. If it really is in the actors’ lounge, then at least Smith was luckier to get his sword back than a Game of Thrones graduate. Tormund Giantsbane, played by Kristofer Hivju, appeared in Game Of Thrones with a sword that looked something like a cross between a large bowie knife and the gladius swords of Roman soldiers. Although Hivju wanted to take the cool gun home with him, he didn’t quite get around to it. “[I]It’s very dangerous and I could have killed people with it if I had it in my house, so they took it away,” Hivju said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
