During the AMA, Bayer was asked how The Miley Cyrus Show came about, to which the actress replied, “I auditioned for SNL with an impression of Miley Cyrus and I think it was actually Seth Meyers’ idea that we the miley do cyrus show! It was always a lot of fun to work on, and I would always write it with Rob Klein and Colin Jost, who are great writers!” It turned out to be a random audition, since The Miley Cyrus Show has been one throughout her tenure one of Bayer’s most popular skits.
The sketches ran regularly from 2010 to 2013, where the host would typically portray another celebrity to sit down for an interview with Miley Cyrus. Eventually, the show landed Cyrus himself, who played Justin Bieber in a sketch. And to come full circle, Bieber appeared in a 2013 version of the skit in which he played Pete DeFalco, aka the Miley Cyrus fan club president.
Bayer had other impressions, including those of Diane Keaton and Hillary Clinton. But her attitude towards Cyrus will always have a place in the hearts of “SNL” fans.
