In the latest Thanksgiving episode of “The Goldbergs,” Beverly isn’t planning a Thanksgiving dinner for the family this year because of everything she’s been going through lately, including the death of her husband Murray (Jeff Garlin), but Barry (Troy Gentile) is ) and Adam (Sean Giambrone) are so disappointed that she decides to make dinner anyway.
But conflicts brew within the family, like Uncle Marvin trying to impress his father, Ben (Judd Hirsch), or Erica (Hayley Orrantia) getting upset that her husband Geoff (Sam Lerner) is more into his hobby of running than running she is focused on help with her baby. Adam and Barry don’t want their mom to stop giving Thanksgiving dinner, so they set out to resolve the family’s disputes only to make them worse. The episode ends with a tumultuous Thanksgiving dinner full of shouts and accusations that Beverly is exactly what she wanted from Thanksgiving because her Thanksgiving is always like that.
Fan reaction to the episode was very positive, with many ranking it among the show’s best Turkey Tag episodes. “I was speechless during that Thanksgiving dinner scene,” tweeted @withonea. “Quite literally one of the greatest Thanksgiving Goldberg episodes written.” Another Twitter user spoke about the scenes with Erica breastfeeding. “[I] Appreciate the accurate portrayal of new motherhood in #TheGoldbergs!” wrote @AngiBelle. “I remember that time well.
