The summer 2022 anime season is as stacked as ever and the movie Tsurune: The First Shot has joined the lineup. The release date of Tsurune in Japanese cinemas is August 19, 2022.

Tsurune – Hajimari no Issha – (Tsurune: The First Shot) has released a new trailer ahead of its premiere. The video featured the theme music “Hand” by Luck Life.

Tsurune, like many other Kyoto animation works, is a brilliantly animated series with superbly developed characters.

The newly released teaser gives fans a unique look at the film, reintroducing key characters from the anime series, such as archer-candidate Minato Narumiya and the intriguing Masaki Takigawa. The trailer starts with Minato as a kid and then moves on to him as a teenager. The music then erupts into a beautiful melody as he draws his bow and lets an arrow fly. The following clips show Minato and Masaki trying to perfect their craft and become the best archers they can be.

As previously mentioned, the trailer also reveals the theme song “Hand” by Jpop band Luck Life. Check out the fantastic trailer below:

Tsurune Movie Trailer by Kyoto Animation

In September 2021, Kyoto Animation unveiled the first teaser for the upcoming film, followed by a second trailer in March 2022. The animation studio released new visuals for Tsurune The Movie along with the March trailer. The new image shows, like the teaser, Minato and Masaki in their archery gear while standing in a field of glowing flowers.

Kyoto Animation reminded fans that from March 4, 2022 until supplies last, they will receive a free A4 clear file with every ticket purchase. The bonus item is available in two different versions and will be randomly distributed to the ticket holders. Check out the stunning art below:

Tsurune cast, crew and more

Takuya Yamamura directs the film Tsurune: The First Shot, which Kyoto Animation is animating. Yasuhiro Takemoto is responsible for story creation and supervision, while Michiko Yokote controls series creation. The main animation director is Nobuaki Maruki. The cast of the film includes:

  • Yuto Uemura as Minato Narumiya
  • Kaito Ishikawa as Kaito Onogi
  • Kensho Ono as Shuu Fujiwara
  • Aoi Ichikawa as Seiya Takehaya
  • Shintaro Asanuma as Masaki Takigawa
  • Miyuri Shimabukuro as Yuna Hanazawa
  • Ayaka Nanase as Shiragiku Noa
  • Ryota Suzuki as Ryohei Yamanochi
  • Shogo Yano as Nanao Kisaragi

Tsurune is a Japanese light novel series created by Kotoko Ayano and narrating the narrative of Minato Narumiya. This little boy gives up his love for kyuudo, a modern Japanese martial art centered on archery, when an incident occurs during his final tournament in middle school.

However, Minato is drawn back into sports after entering high school. He meets a mysterious archer named Masaki Takigawa at a secret archery range in the forest. Minato joins the Kazemai High School Kyuudo Club along with childhood friends Seiya Takehaya and Ryouhei Yamanouchi and new partners Kaito Onogi and Nanao Kisaragi to compete in the prefecture’s kyuudo tournament, influenced by Masaki’s masterful form.

Kyoto Animation produced an anime adaptation of the light novel series that aired in 13 episodes between October 22, 2018 and January 21, 2019. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the anime television series.
