Read Time:1 Minute, 12 Second

As the music swells, Mason parks his car and heads to the lake with his newborn child. He wades into the water and holds the baby under the water for nearly 30 seconds, then turns what appears to be drowning into a baptism. Michael Mosley told Thrillist that he internally defied director Jason Bateman’s instructions on how to play this pivotal moment. “His tone of voice was that the whole time I walk through the woods and onto the embankment, I intend to baptize this child,” Mosley said. “But I thought in my head that I should make that decision in that moment, so it’s scary as I’m walking out there. Part of Mason wants to kill the baby, part of him wants to kill himself. When the baby is underwater, it changes.”

In the final minutes of the episode, after Mason chooses life for himself and his child, Petty tapes the shattered hotel facilities back together while likely also piece together in his mind his resolve and his case against the Byrdes. Wyatt, Ruth, and Three Langmore (Carson Holmes) head to Russ and Boyd’s funeral, while Wendy decides to take the kids home. The Byrdes’ web is still intact but shaking badly, and now that Marty and Wendy have brought Jonah and Charlotte to the center, the family is united to face what comes at the end of “Ozark” Season 1 .
