The Boys’ Producer Fought To Keep That Huge Termite Scene In Season 3’s Premiere

Speaking to Den of Geek, showrunner Eric Kripke highlighted the moment he dodged spoilers in March: “The first 15 minutes of Episode 1 is by far the craziest thing we’ve ever done, about a mile. If I remember correctly it came quite late because it’s so weird, almost like ‘James Bond’, it has its own adventure [before you start] the new.”

After finally putting the meaty bits together, it’s clear what he was referring to and it’s not as wild as comparing it to a 007 pre-credit scene. Sex? Force? An unimaginable explosion that you can’t see coming? It’s a cocktail only this show could pull off, and one that producer Craig Rosenberg was dying to keep.

“There was a lot of talk, and unsurprisingly Craig Rosenberg — who brought you things like ‘dolphin through the windshield’ and ‘ramming a boat into a whale’ — fought and fought for that sequence because I thought, ‘ Maybe…or maybe we’ll find another one,” and he just said, “That’s the one!” And he was just so passionate about it.”

Good thank you? The only concern now is whether it will be topped when The Boys returns to Amazon Prime next week.
