What mash-up could possibly cause ’80s and ’90s kids to lose their ever-loved minds? How about the sewer-dwelling, tank-kicking ninja turtles meet the whimsical and fearless phantom-fighting Ghostbusters quartet? IDW Publishing made this connection possible in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters Limited Series. In four issues, TMNT and Ghostbusters join forces to fight nefarious forces.
Of course, one might wonder why these two sets of characters didn’t cross paths sooner since they are both based in New York City. Well, they’re completely separate properties, after all, and they don’t technically live in the same universe. The comic miniseries’ story involves a break through universes as the TMNT are propelled to an alternate version of New York City, home of the intrepid Ghostbusters we all know and love from the 1984 classic.
After being accidentally sent to another dimension, the TMNT must join forces with the Ghostbusters to battle an ancient Chinese deity named Chi-You. As the evil entity attempts to raise an army, the heroes must find a way to stop Chi-You’s advances from destroying New York City. It’s an exciting ride that fans of both franchises can enjoy.
