Charlie Vickers had a lot to tell Variety after the incredible reveal of his character’s true identity in The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Ring. While we only briefly got a glimpse of Sauron in all his glory in the show’s first season finale, it’s definitely got some wondering about Vickers’ suitability as the iconic villain. Unfortunately, the time for that doesn’t seem to have come yet.
“No, I wish. This is amazing CGI work,” Vickers admitted. “Neither am I in the prologue of the first episode when Sauron goes down the stairs. Hopefully one day I’ll get fit.” With his imposing size and terrible armor, it’s easy to see why the “Rings of Power” showrunners might want to wait to build the costume in real life until they need it, but it is still a bit disappointing that the character can’t appear as fans know him from the Peter Jackson films.
With that in mind, for now, fans of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will just have to wait and see when the character regains his armor. However, with Sauron already in Mordor, that time could be just around the corner in season 2 of the series.
