Small Details You Missed In Cobra Kai Season 5

Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

“Cobra Kai” Season 5 offers some foreshadowing, including a musical nod at the end of Episode 9. Chozen, Daniel and Johnny get back in their rented party limo to head to another bar, leading to a drunken sing-along to Survivor’s legendary ’80s- Hit “Eye of the Tiger”.

On a purely superficial level, this song is almost too apt. As the Oscar-nominated theme song of “Rocky III,” it fits perfectly with the three sensei, who have all embarked on journeys of self-discovery throughout the show. In other words, they have not lost sight of the dreams of the past and have risen to the challenges of their rivals.

However, the choice of song has a second layer of meaning that foreshadows the events of “Cobra Kai” Season 5 Episode 10. Survival singer David Bickler sings, “And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night.” The song continues, “And he’s watching us all with a tiger’s eye.” Those lyrics are just playing when it’s revealed that the limousine abducted by an unseen force believed to be malevolent, punctuated by footage of Terry Silver acting maliciously. In the end, it turns out that Mike Barnes is behind the wheel, not one of Silver’s agents, but the song’s lyrics are clearly intended to imply that the Big Bad is the one who is “stalking” our heroes. Given Johnny’s outspoken obsession with “Rocky,” the whole sequence is spot on.
