While Marvel adaptations are influenced by the comics, it makes sense that they put their unique spin on things. After all, Titania was introduced during the Secret Wars arc, where she became a villain of the Fantastic Four before targeting She-Hulk. Of course, with Avengers: Secret Wars still several years away from hitting the big screen, her origins will differ, and that’s not the only departure the character will have from her comic book counterpart.
Jameela Jamil spoke to Screen Rant at Comic-Con 2022 to talk about Titania and what fans can expect from the latest iteration. She said, “We’re telling a brand new version of Titania that was invented in Jessica Gao’s brain. It’s very modern and fresh and silly and fun, but still with that consistent lineage of Titania’s insecurity that’s at the core of all her problems in She-Hulk.”
This may disappoint fans who were hoping for a more comic-accurate portrayal of the supervillain. But it sounds like they’ve captured the essence of what makes her an intriguing character, and while changes are being made, including to her costume, she should still be recognizable.
