Texas governor Grey Abbott earlier banned the wearing of masks in school inspired by several oppositions from the school districts and administration. The governor has contracted a corona virus infection. The official statement from the Republican Governor’s office states that Grey Abbott is fully vaccinated and regularly gets tested. On Tuesday, he was tested positive.
Communication Director Mark Miner said in the statement, “Governor Abbott is in constant communication with his staff, agency heads, and government officials to ensure that state government continues to operate smoothly and efficiently.” He added, the governor will stay isolated in the governor’s mansion and will continue to test daily to know the progress of the treatment the governor is receiving monoclonal antibody treatment.
Multiple Politicians Who Were In Opposition Of Vaccination Mandates Tested Positive For COVID
The same treatment was given to Donald Trump last October for faster recovery from COVID infection. The treatment helped President Trump to overcome the battle with coronavirus.
Abbott is a part of Republican Politicians in the USA that opposed vaccination and mask mandates for a long time. He along with other republican group members was contracted with Covid Infection. Some Republican leaders who also got recently infected with the corona virus include Wisconsin state Sen. Andre Jacque and North Carolina state Rep. Keith Kidwell.
The stance of Grey Abbott on the mitigation measures has drawn ire in the parents and activities groups. The statement released on Tuesday said, “Our Governor has been working harder to keep masks out of schools than he has worked to keep guns out of schools. In his relentless and cruel pursuit of controlling mandates in the name of bodily autonomy, he himself contracted COVID and is using every resource available to HIM, but refuses to allow local governments to use their own resources to help save lives.”
In the last few weeks, owing to the rise in the number of coronaviruses ceased across the country. More than four school districts in Texas have closed their campus in the new academic year. The step was taken to safeguard the students from the outbreak and limit the spread of coronavirus.
It was also reported that on Monday, Abbott attended an event in Collin Country. There were several photos on social media and other platforms showing him mingling and talking with a mostly unmasked crowd. He was seen shaking hands as well as posing for the pictures.
Communication Director mark Minner while talking about the health and medical status of 63-year-old Abbott said, ” he is in good health, and currently experiencing no symptoms.”
Earlier in July, Grey Abbott has signed an executive order that banned governmental entities and institutions from requiring vaccine passports to enter the premises. He strongly argued that the ban must be introduced into the private sector also.
