Pete Davidson’s Favorite SNL Sketch Of All Time May Surprise You

Sometimes “SNL” goes completely out of control for a sketch and ventures into territory no one could have imagined. That’s exactly what happens in the Diner Lobster sketch, in which Davidson’s character orders lobster at a diner. Everyone is at a loss because he knows for sure that nobody ever gets the lobster in a diner. But he insists, and what follows is a musical parody of “Les Misérables” with the lyrics swapped out to tell the story of the lobster’s plight, played by Kenan Thompson.

In a 2018 interview with Variety, Davidson mentioned that this is probably his favorite sketch of all time. And as he puts it, “Not because it’s like the funniest sketch in the world, it really is funny, but it’s just the most damn ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen in my life.” Proof of that is the sketch itself. On At one point the camera pans to Davidson after seeing Thompson in his lobster suit and he laughs hysterically. Davidson has an explanation for that, too: “I’m not good at it … I can’t not laugh, it’s like, I’m sorry. I’m not a good actor. You know what I mean. You hired me, it’s not my fault.”

With no shortage of work in his future, it’s safe to say that Davidson will be keeping audiences (and himself) laughing for quite some time to come.
