Unfortunately, the latter part of Patrick Swayze’s career seemed to have slipped into proverbial recession as the press focused more on his cancer diagnosis than his work as an actor. Sure, Swayze remains the epitome of Hollywood success thanks to his memorable roles, particularly in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, but Swayze’s swan song turned out to be an absolute flop.

Swayze starred in 2009’s Powder Blue alongside an incredibly stacked who’s who of talent including Ray Liotta, Jessica Biel, Forest Whitaker, Sanaa Lathan, Eddie Redmayne and Kris Kristofferson. Despite an all-star cast, writer-director Timothy Linh Bui’s story about what might be the worst Christmas ever failed to take root, and the film grossed just $17,835 (via Box Office Mojo).

“Powder Blue” was scrutinized by critics with a Tomatometer rating of 25% and currently has a paltry audience rating of 40% (per Rotten Tomatoes). As stinky as “Powder Blue” was, the flop didn’t impact Swayze’s venerable career, which has given a generation of moviegoers the time of their lives.
