On August 17, 2022, the One Punch Man official website released a teaser visual confirming that One Punch Man Season 3 anime production has been greenlit. One Punch Man Season 3 release date will be announced at a later date.

Chikashi Kubota, who was responsible for character design in seasons one and two, drew the visual and will return as a member of the production team.

However, the anime studio making One Punch Man Season 3 has not been specified. The first season was directed by Studio Madhouse while the second season was directed by Studio JC Staff.

You can see the new keyframe showing Saitama and Garou the hero hunter back to back here:

The final episode of season 2 hints at the upcoming events

In One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 24, Silverfang and Bomb beat up Garou mercilessly. Garou remembers when he was a young loner and had a popular classmate named Tat-chan. When Tat-chan allies with Garou while playing with her other friends just because he was called the “monster”, Garou begins to hate “heroes”.

Garou decides that he wants to be a villain instead of a “hero” who just goes around beating up weaklings. Garou manages to fight off Fang and Bomb, but Pheonix Man arrives and saves Garou. We will find out in One Punch Man Season 3 that Phoenix Man is a member of the Monster Association and wants to bring Garou back to her lair because he is determined to be someone who would make an excellent monster.

Will the incredible fight between Saitama and Garou be animated?

When Pheonix Man and Garou are on the run, Genos appears and puts their lives in danger. Pheonix Man decides to call in reinforcements and calls in Elder Centipede for help. Fang and Bomb team up to wound Elder Centipede, but Elder Centipede pushes them back and sheds his damaged armor.

Genos decides to act as bait so that Fang and Bomb can take the defeated A-class heroes to safety. Genos manages to wound Elder Centipede, but the monster quickly regenerates and lets Genos fly. Genos begins to lose faith in himself due to his inability to defeat the dragon level monster without Saitama’s help.

Things are looking bleak and Fang puts Genos down and decides to take on Elder Centipede himself while Genos is able to escape. At that moment, King appears with a megaphone and boldly challenges Elder Centipede. King lies that the S Class Hero Rank 1 Blast has arrived. Apparently, Blast Elder previously wounded Centipede so badly that he retreated underground.

Just before Elder can kill Centipede King, Saitama arrives and obliterates the monster with a Serious Punch. However, this will not be the last time we will see a giant centipede. During the upcoming Monster Association Arc, where heroes will be forced to infiltrate the Monster Association headquarters to rescue a kidnapped child, the heroes will fight many different monsters with different abilities. Garou and Saitama will end up fighting the “Monster King” and eventually Saitama will have to face the real minds behind the whole operation.

After all monsters are defeated, Garou declares that he has become the most powerful monster and that he is the ultimate evil. At this point, Garou fuels Saitama until they begin an epic battle that manga readers are really looking forward to seeing animated on the big screen.

When Saitama and Genos get back together at the end of Episode 24, Genos immediately asks his sensei what’s wrong with him. Saitama confusedly replies “force”, much to King’s chagrin. The episode ends with Saitama asking the heroes if they want to return to his apartment. Meanwhile, Pheonix Man picks up an unconscious Garou and takes him to the Monster King Orochi.

In the depths of the Monster Association’s lair, Garou undergoes a very painful monsterization process. Will Garou lose his humanity? What will happen when Garou’s sidekick Tareo shows up at Monster Association headquarters? You’ll have to watch One Punch Man season 3 to find out.

Speed-of-sound Sonic fans will have to be patient, since Sonic chose to cook the monster cell instead of eating it and didn’t turn into a monster, that he won’t take part in the battle between the heroes and the monster union . However, readers of the original webtoon know that a very interesting arc about a very dangerous ninja is happening and will hopefully be animated one day.
