Concluding one of the deepest fights of all time, the upcoming One Punch Man Chapter 170 marks the formal conclusion of the Monster Association and Garou series after seven long years of serialization.

Since One Punch Man 169 only adapted part of webcomic chapter 94, it is expected that One Punch Man 170 will end the arc. The next step is the arc of the Psychic Sisters.

The longest-running single arc to date in Yusuke Murata’s illustrated webcomic adaptation of ONE is the Monster Association arc.

The arc’s story began with the introduction of Garou, and then fully erupted into a conflict between the heroes and the monster associations. All of this culminated in a showdown between Saitama and Garou, which has now been resolved.

The end of the longest One Punch Man arc

As the Monster Association saga came to a close, Saitama and Garou’s battle began to literally expand the boundaries of time and space as they both grew in power. The two grew stronger as the fight went on, because Garou’s godlike strength allowed him to easily adapt to Saitama’s punches, and Saitama was able to quickly use any technique he saw.

This was then taken to a whole new level when Saitama took one final step to become a god who can travel through time with his punches.

The next chapter in the series will explore what happened after the Garou arc, as Murata announced to fans on Twitter after the final nearly 80-page chapter ended the duel between Saitama and Garou.

Murata assures that the arc will be completed shortly while assuring fans he will continue to draw a lot more. He worked towards this conclusion for seven years in serialization.

As a result, the entire manga run happily has a lot more to tell even though the arc ends.

One Punch Man Chapter 170 release date and what to expect

Unlike most shonen manga series, One Punch Man doesn’t stick to a set release schedule. Therefore, it can be difficult to estimate when the next chapter will be released.

However, Murata Sensei posted a tweet confirming the release date for the next installment in the series.

The tweet says:

“The next update of the Tona Jean version of One Punch Man is scheduled for the 18th.”

Therefore, the release date of One Punch Man 170 is August 18, 2022. Fans can expect spoilers to circulate online two days before the chapter’s release, after the writing has been completed.

The unofficial raw scans should be accessible by August 17, 2022. Viz will take some time to update its library, but eventually the latest chapters will be available on Viz media.

Most likely, the heroes will go through a decontamination process to aid in their recovery from acute radiation exposure. Now that Garou has escaped, some heroes may be eager to pursue the hero hunter, but there is little to worry as Garou will change his mind after the events described in the previous chapters.

The interaction between Bang and Saitama and Garou could happen and future chapters of the story could focus on that.
