One Punch Man fans are in heaven with the release of One Punch Man Chapter 168, which concludes the epic battle between Garou and Saitama and ends with a surprise twist!

OPM Chapter 168 begins with Saitama and Garou continuing to fight. Garou uses his wormhole techniques against Saitama, but Saitama is able to use the wormholes to allow Garou to counterattack. Saitama fights Garou while disabled – holding Genos’ power core in his left hand.

Saitama annoys Garou by saying, “What’s wrong? You said you’d copy me if I meant it and surpass me, didn’t you? Isn’t that the whole point?” Garou counters Saitama’s attacks with equal power, but then Saitama hits back with an even more powerful attack. At that moment, Garou realizes that Saitama is leaving him in the dust.

But it’s more than that – Saitama is evolving. The narrator explains that Saitama is growing and that growth is due to a surge of emotions he had never experienced before caused by Genos’ supposed “death” when Garou ripped Genos’ energy core from his chest.

At one point, one of Garou’s attacks bounced off Saitama’s clothing, and feeling a sudden chill, Saitama begins to sneeze as he blocks an oncoming punch from Garou. Garou doesn’t realize what’s happening until Saitama’s mouth is opened extremely wide and he sneezes.

This is the first time Saitama has let out a “serious sneeze,” and the aftermath is insane. Saitama’s sneeze blasts Jupiter’s outer gaseous layers, revealing its core!

At this point, manga artist Yusuke Murata outdoes himself once again, creating these beautiful color panels showing the aftermath of Saitama’s sneeze. Who would have thought that a person’s sneeze and its consequences in its chaos could be so epic and strangely beautiful?

One Punch Man fans continue to be blown away by the art of this manga.

Garou barely manages to dodge Saitama’s sneeze, at which point he realizes that a powerful punch from Saitama will inevitably kill him. Ironically, Garou thinks Saitama is a monster that shouldn’t be roaming free on Earth. Then Garou discovers the sun and has an idea.

Garou teleports himself and Saitama to the sun to destroy Saitama once and for all. Then Garou uses a wormhole and travels back to Earth.

Garou thinks he’s won and starts celebrating. However, Saitama suddenly appears behind Garou and praises him for his teleportation technique.

Garou wants to know how Saitama got there and Saitama explains that the cold gave him stomach pains and the sudden flash of light surprised him so much that he had to fart! (Mental note: never feed Saitama beans). The power of Saitama’s fart propelled Saitama all the way from the sun to the earth.

Saitama wastes no time in beating Garou and sends him back to Earth. Garou wants to know why Saitama doesn’t want to kill him now.

Saitama tells Garou that he’s not made a hero compared to him with his cool transformations and King with his intimidating presence. Regardless, the fact that he’s a hero anyway and that it was Tareo’s last request is what makes him want to stop Garou without killing him.

At this point, Garou becomes confused by Saitama, who says it is Tareo’s “last request” until he spots Tareo’s lifeless body on the ground a few feet away. Garou suddenly freaks out and tries to put as much distance between himself and Tareo as possible. Garou laments that all of this is his fault, and realizing that he has become the “ominous future” begins to cry.

Saitama begins to realize that something strange has happened to Garou and suggests that some “maniac” did something to him. (Way of calling God a madman, Saitama). Garou laments that unless he can defeat Saitama, he cannot become Ultimate Evil, and that the hero who defeats him thinks he was not cut out to be a hero.

Garou tells Saitama that he should have just acted like a hero and killed him with a smug expression while hurling his own brand of justice at him. That way, Garou could have turned out like True Evil. And that the one he tried to save by changing the world, aka Tareo, is dead.

Saitama challenges Garou, asking if it’s true he wanted to save Tareo or if he was clinging to Tareo for support. Garou starts saying that Saitama would never understand until he noticed Genos’ power core which he still holds in his left hand and at that moment he realizes that Saitama isn’t that different from him. That no one with that much power would have been able to stay sane without emotional support.

Garou suddenly asks Saitama – to copy a special martial arts technique from him that he hasn’t quite mastered yet, so that Saitama can master it in his place and defeat God. While “god” decides to take away Garou’s power, Garou teaches Saitama a special technique.

Digital colorist Atlas Alexander was inspired by the scene where Garou shares his “fist” aka ultimate technique with Saitama so he can fix things and defeat the ominous future. Here are the top 5 fan art that inked the manga scenes.

5. Genos teaches Saitama his ultimate technique

Saitama makes a rare “serious face” while learning the technique. Garou begins to unravel, prompting Saitama to go and defeat this ominous future.

Saitama then begins to travel backwards in time. (I mean, Superman did it that one time to save Lois Lane, so we shouldn’t really be surprised that Saitama also has the ability to travel through time!)

Digital colourist GxTheBatman was inspired by the moment Cosmic Garou dies and redeems himself in death.

This is also the point where all my theories about how Saitama would save Genos by returning the power core or my theories about how Genos could still be alive became a moot point. (But, hey, as long as Genos lives, I’m happy!)

3. Saitama travels back in time

As Saitama travels back in time, he finally acknowledges that Garou’s martial arts techniques are awesome. Saitama sees a good time to step into the timeline to stop Garou shortly after receiving God’s power and making the heroes cower before him. Saitama throws a serious punch at Garou and it’s a KO

A prone Genos realizes that Saitama is there and yells, “Is that?! Sensei!?”

Saitama’s punch causes the divine energy to leave Garou’s body. Saitama then meets the other in the past and they merge into one being. Saitama seems confused, thinking the last thing he remembers is Garou’s blast move hitting him.

Saitama freaks out when he sees Genos’ power core in his hand, and then freaks out when he realizes his suit’s crotch has been blown off. Suddenly, Genos crashes his jets into Saitama’s chest and yells, “Sensei!” Saitama is perplexed but happy to see Genos alive.

Saitama isn’t the only one excited to see Genos alive! Jack666rulez drew a little sketch of Genos and said, “Did you miss me bitches?”

Digital artist Lunah was inspired by Genos’ revival to draw a picture of Saitama lovingly wrapping his arms around Genos after Genos walks into him.
