Netflix May Soon Offer A Cheaper Subscription Option, But There’s A Catch

As Variety reported on August 26, 2022, Netflix may be planning to introduce an even cheaper subscription tier than those currently available in the coming months. The streaming giant is considering a monthly price of between $7 and $9, which sounds great on paper, but that discount doesn’t come without a cost. This level would incorporate commercials – about four minutes per hour – except for children’s programs and original films. Elsewhere, Bloomberg notes that ads would not be skippable.

So if this concept becomes a reality, when can we expect it? Well, for those of you who are one of the “handful of markets where adspend is significant,” as Netflix officials recently told investors, you can likely get a look at it in early 2023. Also, it looks like some content might be missing from the ad-supported version which is otherwise available on the ad-free version. However, the details of such a situation have yet to be clarified by the parties involved.

If you don’t mind the occasional commercial break and don’t mind saving some money each month, then this ad-supported Netflix subscription might be for you. Hopefully, more information about this will come to light as 2023 inches closer.
