NBC has officially renewed Young Rock for a third season (via Deadline). The news comes just weeks before the show’s second season finale, which airs Tuesday, May 24 on NBC.
The show’s second season is averaging slightly lower ratings than the first (via TV Series Finale), but according to TV Line, “Young Rock” remains NBC’s highest-rated comedy series of the 2021-22 season in the coveted adults 18-49 crowd demographic. The show’s renewal also suggests that the season-to-season decline wasn’t severe enough to make NBC drop it from its scripted programming lineup.
The renewal of the series’ third season ensures that “Young Rock” will remain on the airwaves for at least another year. That means it will remain one of several projects viewers can expect Johnson to be in over the next few years. As of this writing, the ‘Young Rock’ star is also set to appear in a number of high-profile titles throughout 2022 and 2023, including ‘Black Adam’, ‘DC League of Super-Pets’ and ‘Red One’ (via IMDb).
In addition to those projects, viewers can now look forward to Johnson continuing to share stories about his past in Young Rock.
