My Hero Academia Season 6 Dealt A Devastating Turn (& Other Anime Creators Should Be Taking Notes)

In general, “My Hero Academia” is a show full of hope. Although the stories took dark turns – like when All Might (Kenta Miyake/Christopher Sabat) and All For One fought in Season 3 of My Hero Academia – there were also happy arcs. More importantly, despite the losses, the heroes won in these conflicts.

But with such a divisive loss in Season 6 of My Hero Academia, the villains may finally have what they wanted: the public loses faith in the heroes, causing superhuman society to collapse. As Gran Torino (Kenichi Ogata/Charles C. Campbell) said, “What’s the point of all these heroes if we can’t even stop one villain?”

That’s the question that fans are left with at the end of the first arc of Season 6 – with the final shots to show their dead, unconscious or maimed heroes in the midst of a devastated city. This image reflects the devastating losses of the protagonists. To make matters worse, the villains only lose two main players: Twice (Daichi Endo/Newton Pittman) and Mr. Compress (Tsuguo Mogami/Kent Williams).
