“No Normal” ends with a flash forward after the fight with Damage Control and Kamala saying goodbye to Bruno before he runs CalTech. Aside from arguing about who gets Kamran’s (Rish Shah) car, Bruno drops a bombshell that doesn’t necessarily have to hit Kamala, but certainly knocked fans’ heads and eardrums after hearing it.
It turns out that the Circle Q’s brightest employee analyzed the Khan family’s DNA to understand what makes Kamala special, resulting in something he may never have seen before. “We know why you have access to the Noor and how to deal with it, but when I compared you to the rest of your family, something still seemed amiss,” explains Bruno, leading his friend to seek more information to urge. “There’s something else in your genes,” Bruno says to Kamala. “Like a mutation.”
As if the insertion of the M-word wasn’t enough, the music briefly snuck into a distinctive iteration of the classic theme tune from the X-Men animated series, which we’ll return to in X-Men ’97. Observant fans will recall that this was last heard following Charles Xavier’s (Patrick Stewart) brief Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness performance before Wanda gave him the snap. This may finally be the big picture Kevin Feige hinted back in June and that Kamala could see her on a journey that mirrors both a character from the X-Men film series and the original Ms. Marvel comic.
