Coinciding with the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin, showrunners Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Declan De Barra spoke to Radio Times about the prequel series. They’ve discussed everything from the characters to the making of the show, but that’s not all. They also talked about what the future might hold for the Witcher-related media. More specifically, they revealed whether or not they think there’s room for more “Witcher” spin-offs down the line. While they don’t directly confirm or launch such productions, they teased their potential given the vastness of the source material.

“[Andrzej] Sapkowski is the king of closed history. The more we read of his books, the wider the world becomes,” De Barra told the publication, calling the nature of Sapkowski’s work positive for creatives. He continues: “You paint another side of this world and expand it outwards . That’s the fun part.” Could the Blood Origin team be vying for more standalone Witcher spinoffs? It seems so, but again, nothing of the sort has reached the public as of this writing. Though there are rumors swirling about a title dedicated to the mischievous street gang called the Rats, so maybe at least we have something to get excited about.

The Witcher: Blood Origin, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and the first two seasons of The Witcher are currently streaming on Netflix. One has to imagine that as long as the property maintains its popularity, more titles will be added sooner rather than later.
