In a behind-the-scenes interview for the special that aired at the end of That ’70s Show, Mila Kunis was very candid about the costumes she had to wear on the show. “I love the wardrobe people, I adore them [them] and I think they do a fabulous job putting outfits together. It’s not her fault these outfits are so hideous.” She demonstrated her point with the outfit she wore, a polyester pantsuit with pants she said came down to her third rib. “It’s not flattering in my opinion,” she said.
In the same special, Laura Prepon (Donna Pinciotti) explained that her own wardrobe was pretty basic because her character was supposed to be a tomboy, so she usually got jeans and a t-shirt. She was sorry that Kunis had to wear all the complicated outfits, she added. But as much as she protested, the ’70s seem to have crept into Kunis’ fashion sense after so many years working on the show.
Pop Sugar put together a slideshow comparing some of Mila Kunis’ casual outfits from her everyday life to some of her character’s fashions on ‘That ’70s Show,’ and they look surprisingly alike. So maybe Kunis has come to terms with the clothes she once found unflattering. According to Melina Root’s Instagram account, the costume designer returned to also design the wardrobe for That ’90s Show. Kunis is back for the continuation of the series, so she has a whole new fashion decade to explore. Hope she doesn’t hate it that much.
