In June 2015, Gilmore Girls cast members and writers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino reunited for a reunion panel, reported by Entertainment Weekly. While there’s one Gilmore Girls secret Matt Czuchry doesn’t want to share, he revealed something interesting during the panel: “I actually auditioned for two different roles twice over the course of the year, and Logan.”
While the actor didn’t specify which roles he auditioned for before landing Logan, he has previously spoken about his audition process. In 2006, while the show was still on the air, Czuchry spoke to My Fanbase and responded about what other roles he had auditioned for. It turns out the roles were Rory’s other potential love interests: Jess (Milo Ventimiglia), who Rory dates in Season 3, and two characters who are interested in Rory, Tristan (Chad Michael Murray) and Marty (Wayne Wilcox).
Czuchry’s testimony on the panel appears to contradict what he was telling Fanbase when he said the trial took place over the course of a year. However, if he auditioned for Tristan and Jess, both of whom came on the show in previous seasons, the total time he spent auditioning must have been over a year.
But whatever the case, fans are sure to be glad he ended up playing Logan.
