M3GAN’s Clever Marketing Team Keeps Poking At Chucky, Setting Up Something?
M3GAN (or a savvy writer on the Blumhouse pic’s marketing team) took to Reddit for her own “Ask Me Anything” to give fans a chance to learn more about her. User u/Dorkof openly asked the AI doll for her honest thoughts on Chucky. “Like many middle-aged white men whose souls are in the body of an ’80s toy, Chucky has trouble accepting that technology has come a long way and I was created to clean up the junk of anyone who gets in the way stands or is a threat to my best friends,” M3GAN replied. Ouch.
M3GAN’s words, while harsh, aren’t exactly surprising. Prior to the film’s release, M3GAN’s marketing took every opportunity to fire shots at Chucky and the larger Child’s Play series. Her beef started in late 2022 when M3GAN called the puppet Twitter. Since then, the two have been going to work, with M3GAN recently calling Chucky Boomer social media website. Jennifer Tillyone of the key stars of the “Child’s Play” series, even joined in and said: “I’m sorry, but I have to stand up for my friend. The only thing that can beat #M3GAN #Chucky is a dance off.”
As it stands, Universal Pictures owns the Chucky franchise when it comes to its various sequels and shows. Who distributed “M3GAN”? Universal images. Does that mean M3GAN and Chucky’s Beef are building a crossover? Fans have been hoping the two would face off since 2022. It’s also something that “Child’s Play” co-creator Don Mancini had previously expressed an interest in (via ComicBook.com).
