Trailer of the anime Kengan Ashura.

The trailer mainly focuses on the brutal battles Ashura has to take part in against fierce opponents, but don’t be fooled into believing that this anime doesn’t have an interesting plot to go along with the action. Kengan Ashura Season 2 will feature the thrilling final battles of the Kengan Annihilation Tournament and its epic conclusion.

What is the plot of Kengan Ashura?

The story is set in an alternate universe of Japan, where gladiator arenas in various forms have existed around the world since the Edo period. Wealthy business owners and merchants hire gladiators to fight in kengan matches – unarmed combat matches where the winner takes everything. The story begins when an average Japanese employee of the Nogi Group, Yamashita Kazuo, witnesses an intense street fight in an alleyway between two mysterious fighters.

In a strange turn of events, street fight winner Tokita “Ashura” Ohma is tracked down by Nogi Group CEO, Nogi Hideki, for defeating their previously sponsored fighter in the street fight. Kazuo is appointed Ohma’s manager and is thoroughly surprised when Ohma takes part in the arena battles and crushes his opponents.

Nogi Hideki decides to invite Ohma to participate in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament due to his spectacular ability to annihilate his enemies. The Kengan Annihilation Tournament is held by the biggest CEOs in Japan, and the winner gets the seat of chairman of the Kengan Association – a position that carries immense power and prestige. Ohma doesn’t have much interest in “Might”, but uses the tournament as an opportunity to test his strength against powerful opponents. But Ohma’s mysterious past catches up with him and his manager Kazuo struggles to discover the real reason for Ohma’s invitation to the tournament.
