“Family Guy” launched on Fox in 1999 and follows the animated exploits of Peter Griffin, his wife Lois, children Meg, Chris and Stewie and their puppy Brian. Created by Seth McFarlane, the adult-focused show often uses cutaway scenes to satirize other films or television series. Canceled in 2002, fan demand, syndication success and big DVD sales prompted Fox to bring the series back to television in 2005, where it has aired since 21St Season debut in 2022 (per CBR).

Johnny Depp lent his voice to one of his most indelible film performances of the “Family Guy” episode “Lois Comes Out of Her Shell” in 2012 (via IMDb). As previously mentioned, the series often recreates the show’s characters into gag sequences that other films spoof. As it turns out, Depp would be vocally recreating his extraordinary role as the wild-haired, razor-sharp-fingered protagonist in Tim Burton’s horror romance Edward Scissorhands for his Family Guy part. As seen in this YouTube clip of the scene, Edward is recast as the babysitter on the show, which, unsurprisingly, proves both hilarious and slightly depressing, but matches in terms of “Family Guy” humor.
