Jonathan Majors could just about write the best-selling bodybuilding book of all time. In addition to the actor preparing to go toe-to-toe with Apollo Creed’s son in March, his role on Magazine Dreams required the actor to push his physique to the limit to portray troubled bodybuilder Killian Maddox . And to say that majors’ efforts to achieve such intense physiques have been extreme would be an understatement.
The “Loki” actor sat down with Variety to discuss the immense protocol required to achieve his look in the film. “I’m 6 feet tall. I weigh 202 pounds,” explains Majors. “To maintain and increase that, you have to eat as much protein as you weigh. I ate 6,100 calories a day for about four months. That included the pre-production and post-production of ‘Creed III’. Majors went on to explain that in addition to his diet of chicken and elk, which he ate six times a day, the actor had to exercise twice each day before filming began, with an additional workout after filming wrapped.
And while the actor plans to slow things down, his rest time will be a far cry from watching Netflix and eating chips, telling Variety, “I really like being physical … I have to do something to stick with it. I don’t work out three times a day anymore. Only once a day.”
