The clip about HBO Max’s upcoming shows showcases an impressive array of outputs, ranging from “House of the Dragon” to “The White Lotus.” However, fans eager for The Last of Us news will likely draw their attention to the final 30 seconds of the promo (via YouTube), which offer a literally chilling first look at The Last of Us.
The first look at the show sees Joel and Ellie carefully making their way across a snow covered bridge before taking shelter in an abandoned building where he teaches her how to use firearms – a skill that comes in handy later in the clip, when we see Ellie running and shooting. “Everyone I took care of either died or left me,” says Ellie offscreen as the scene transitions to the couple fleeing in panic from an unseen threat. “You have no idea what a loss is,” replies Joel grumpily.
While the clip understandably focuses on the central duo, it also gives us a good look at Nick Offerman’s survivalist Bill — as well as a sneak peek at an appropriately terrifying-looking Cordyceps zombie. Fans will still have to wait until 2023 for the show to premiere, but judging from this sneak peek, the show could well be worth it.
